Search Engine Marketing

93% of Canadian consumers use Google to find the products or services they want to buy. That's why Google pulled in over $95 billion in advertising revenue last year. When a customer searches Google for the products or services your company offers, what will they find? As far as the consumer is concerned, any business that doesn't show up on the first page doesn't exist.

Advantages of Search Engine Marketing

  • In the long run, SEM is the most cost effective form of marketing available. Typically, the total cost of traffic is 77% cheaper than pay-per-click advertising and 63% cheaper than media buys.
  • SEM is ideal for long term growth. Even after the initial marketing push, most businesses are able to maintain their top positions. This means that long after you've stopped paying for the campaign, your company will continue to bring in sales for a long period of time.
  • Clients trust Google. When a site shows up in the top few positions, they trust that there is a reason that this business is ranked so highly. Website visitors that found your site through a Google search are 22% more likely to become a client than paid ads. With paid traffic, consumers tend to be more skeptical.
  • SEM let's you target users who want to buy what you sell. With most paid advertising, the goal is to expose as many people as possible to your brand, with the hope that some of them will need your services. With SEM, you know that everyone who sees your website is actively seeking out the services you offer.

The Bad Stuff:

  • SEM is a slow process. Typically, most campaigns really start to pay off after 6 months. Although some campaigns are revenue positive within 3 months, this is much less common. Depending on the length of your sales cycle, SEM can be a significant investment.
  • SEM is an ongoing process. There is no blueprint that can tell you exactly what you need to do to rank. In reality, you just have to do better than your competitors. This means that if your toughest competitors are actively marketing themselves on an ongoing basis, you will need to do this as well to remain competitive.

Pay-Per-Click Advertising

Don't want to wait for results? Pay Per Click advertising can start bringing in revenue from day 1. With the right bid, you can simply buy your way to the top of Google and start bringing in clients the moment you hit "Submit."

Advantages of Pay-Per-Click Advertising

  • PPC is very simple to set up. An entire campaign can be up and running within two weeks. Typically, businesses can expect to receive their first lead within 14 days.
  • With PPC, you only pay when somebody clicks on your ad. This means that if there is very little response to your campaign, you won't have to pay very much. This billing system generally only results in expenses when the campaign is successful.
  • PPC can be turned on or off as needed. Slow month? Just enable your ads and start getting leads that same week. Fully booked? Turn the ads off and save some money until you are able to take on more clients.

The Bad Stuff:

  • Because PPC is bid-based, the costs tend to increase over time. At first, the only way your're able to get your ads to display is by out-bidding your competition. If they were making money, they'll likely outbid you in retaliation. The end result is that PPC campaigns tend to slowly increase in cost until somebody decides "this isn't worth it." Although there are some sneaky ways around this, we generally recommend PPC for clients who can't afford to wait for sales, or as a temporary boost to sucessful SEM campaigns to bring in a few extra jobs quickly.

Web Development

We don't build websites from scratch. We either purchase a license for a template, or we revamp one of our existing designs to suit your business. Although a little unorthodox, there are several key reasons we do things this way.

Think about it this way: if you were going to purchase a car, would it be more cost effective to pick from one of the models already in use, or should you have an engineer design something just for you?

Advantages of Template Web Development

  • No need to reinvent the wheel. We build our websites from templates that have proven themselves to convert well with our other clients. These are websites that sell. While we always do some tweaks to improve sales throughout the campaign, using a template that's gone through real-world testing allows us to get your campaign profitable faster.
  • We can get a brand new website launched quickly. Instead of waiting months to build something from the ground up, we can have a website live within 10 business days. This lets us focus on the actual marketing, bringing you results faster.
  • Our templates are incredibly versatile. While your site may be based on the same foundation as another, to the end user they will look completely different.

The Bad Stuff:

  • As a client, you don't have as much creative control with the website. If you've already got a vision for how you want your website to look, we can put you in touch with a custom web development agency we regularly work with. But if you are flexible, we can get your website up faster for a fraction of the cost.

Conversion Rate Optimization

You've already got a steady stream of visitors looking at your website, but nobody seems to want to buy? CRO can help. This is the process of increasing the percentage of people who choose to hire you. Typically, we are able to increase sales by 25% for websites that are already profitable. If your site has traffic but not sales, proper CRO should be able to get you a minimum 5% conversion rate.

The Good Stuff:

  • CRO helps you get more value from your existing traffic. This is an essential part of any digital marketing campaign. If overlooked, you're simply leaving money on the table.
  • CRO is based on data. It works by having two versions of the same page. Each page gets a certain amount of traffic. At the end, you compare which page resulted in the most sales - clearly proving which page is the most effective

The Bad Stuff:

  • CRO requires a steady stream of traffic to be effective. This means that we can't begin until your site is already bringing in visitors.
  • Every industry is different. What works in one area, won't necessarily work in the same area. This means that CRO takes a bit of time to get right, and there is always an element of luck with it.
